Building an ADU is a great investment in your home. It acts as an extra space apart from the rest of your household which you can use however you like.

After all the permits are in, we can complete an ADU construction in about 2 to 4 months. Obtaining the permits takes between 6 to 8 months with the longest wait being for the permit approval process. City inspectors will assess every milestone when it comes to building an ADU, so you can have a safe space to enjoy for many years. Rest assured, we’ll provide all the necessary documentation and obtain the permits for you.
In general, garage conversions take less time, and we always try to order materials as soon as possible so that we get to work right away. Keep in mind that depending on the materials you choose and their availability, the timeline can vary.

The price of building an ADU depends on the type of addition you are going for. A 400 sqft garage modification costs around $70-$80k. This can include a tiny kitchen, a tiny bath plus plumbing and electrical work.
An ADU that consists of up to two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a kitchen will cost you approximately $400K depending on how big it is. The pricing of an ADU varies if there already is an existing structure available or we have to build one from scratch. It’s also important to know how far the dwelling is from the house. Some cities also require solar panels on the roof of your home and these will likely drive the price up.
You can get a free estimate of your project once we come directly to your house and see the site ourselves. We will talk further about materials, features, and how custom you want to go.
Your project will be completed by our team of specialized workers along with our trusted partners. Most of our subcontractors have been with us for many years. They’ve been personally vetted by the owner himself and can take care of any aspect of your project.
We also have a designer that helps us in bringing the vision for your kitchen to life. Shawn, the owner, is also there to oversee the whole process and assist you with everything you need.
When you reach out to Tate & Son, our assistant Stacey will get back to you to get the basics of your project. Owner Shawn will follow up with a detailed phone consultation. You’ll be meeting him for an on-site consultation as well, where he will personally guide you through the process and offer an estimate.
We will also guide you through the permitting process and help you decide what’s right for you and your family.
Once your project starts, Shawn will regularly come on-site to make sure everything is going well – you’ll see him throughout the process from start to finish. A final walkthrough will take place to ensure you’re happy with every detail.
Upon project completion, we back our workmanship by a 5-year warranty so that you can use your space worry-free.
