Shawn helped to build out my 200 square foot salon suite space and from start to finish he was on top of everything. It is difficult to find contractors that show up when they say they will, but Shawn did just that! He was on time to every appointment. Shawn and his crew installed cabinets, countertop, a shiplap wall and hung mirrors and shelves. I was also in a really big rush due to reopening right after the first mandated COVID shut down and Shawn got the job done!!

Large kitchen remodel in San Diego, CA
For this kitchen remodel we started with tearing down the walls to expand the space by a generous 300 sq. ft. The entire kitchen now measures 500 sq. ft.
The kitchen features a bigger island with two jumbo slabs, new cabinets, custom hood, new lighting, as well as new flooring from the kitchen to the living room.
This remodel was quoted at $200k, where the expansion of the space alone was around $60k.

This 150 sq. ft. kitchen remodeling project also started with layout reconfiguration. After removing two walls to open up the floor plan, we installed a new flooring, a new kitchen island, and custom tile backsplash and countertops.

For this 120 sq. ft. kitchen, the owner wanted to bring in some much-needed functional and stylistic changes. The previously-uneven peninsula was brought to one level, after which we installed new stone countertops.
The cabinets are brand-new, with pull-out trays, soft-close hinges, and smart storage and accessibility accessories such as Lazy Susans.
The space also got new flooring throughout and new paint.
This kitchen remodel was quoted at $60k, where the stone countertops and cabinetry alone were $30k.

50 sq. ft. bathroom remodeling in San Diego, CA
This bathroom remodeling project started with replacing the fiber shower enclosure to reestablish the waterproof barrier. Once we also repaired the walls and ceiling, the space was ready for a beautiful new shower with elegant tile, a custom shower niche, and big shower doors.
In the rest of the bathroom we have new floor throughout, a new custom vanity, and a new door.
This bathroom remodel was $25k, where the shower was the most expensive item, at $9k.
400 sq. ft. Bathroom Remodel in San Marcos, CA
This bathroom had plenty of space for a beautiful walk-in shower and freestanding tub, as well as walk-in closets. The shower tile and mirror wall features a beautiful wave porcelain tile, combined with black countertop for a modern contrast.
The bathroom also got new flooring and new lighting
The entire remodel was quoted at $45k, where the most expensive items were the freestanding tub and shower, at $25k.
60 sq. ft. bathroom Remodel in San Diego, CA
This smaller bathroom remodel started with removing the old shower panel and old vanity. With a clean slate, we designed a new shower with a custom bench, custom niche, and beautiful frameless glass doors.
The vanity is brand-new, with a makeup area included. The rest of the bathroom got new flooring, new fan and lighting, and a custom-made barn door.
The remodel was $35, where the custom barn door and shower alone were $15k.

This review is long overdue but could not come with higher praises for Shawn Tate & his crew. We recently hired Shawn to do 2 full bathroom renovations, a 1/2 bath makeover, a partial kitchen renovation (new counters, backsplash & pot filler install) & re-face our fireplace.
Everything turned out beautifully and on time. I had contacted several contractors before finding Shawn and he was the only one that was always on time, great at communication, valued my opinions with regard to design & respectful of my budget. This larger ADU project is a house in itself, with a full kitchen and bathroom, and a covered patio. All the kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities are new, there’s new flooring throughout, a custom shower in the bathroom, and a walk-in closet.
The design and features of this casita match those of the main home.
This ADU Casita was quoted at $345k, with the kitchen remodel alone coming in at $65k.
Garage conversion to studio in San Diego, CA
For this garage conversion we started with expanding the space by a generous 200 sq. ft. The resulting space has a full bathroom with walk-in shower and a full kitchen with custom cabinetry and new appliances.

This antique-looking ADU project started with a structure rebuild. Next, we designed a new kitchen and bathroom with integrated antiques for a genuine look.
